Mayall, Mr

Mr. Mayall, of Collins street, has sent us photographs of Mr. and Mrs. G. B, Allen, the lady being better known as Miss Alice May. Mr. Allen's portrait is an excellent carte de visite, executed with much refinement of treatment. Mrs. Allen's photograph is of cabinet size, enlarged from an ordinary carte de-visite negative, by the solar camera. This instrument is considered by the initiated to be destined to open up an entirely new field in photography, as it enables the operator to enlarge a photograph to any size, even to life size, without distortion. The likeness in Mrs. Allen's portrait is very good.
