Death of MR. R. H. Image
The death was announced to-day of a highly-esteemed settler, Mr. Reginald Henry Image, of Matawhero. The late Mr. Image, who had been a resident of this district for many years, had been an inmate of a private hospital in town for the past fortnight, and his demise, which occurred this morning, came as a painful surprise to his many, friends. Born in 1861 in Barbadoes, West Indies, Mr. Image was educated at Wellington College, England. He came out to New Zealand as a young man and look up sheepfarming, joining his uncle the. late Mr. Woodline [Woodbine?] Johnson, as, a cadet. Subsequently Mr. Image visited England and on returning in November, 1900, he established a general store business at Matawhero, where he has resided ever since.

His wife predeceased him several years ago. Mr. Image displayed a keen interest in matters pertaining to the district and in various sports, being of a most generous disposition. He was a churchwarden of Saint. George's parish, Patutahi. The deceased gentleman leaves three grown-up daughters, the eldest being Mrs. R. Ambridge,
[Robert Allan Ambridge] of Christchurch, whilst the Misses Image reside at Matawhero. Deepest sympathy will be expressed to them in their sad bereavement.
